Wilson Pro Staff 97 V14.0 315g Racket
Rediscover the legendary Wilson Pro Staff 97 in a version that combines classicism and modernity. The 14 version has an iridescent design like the Ultra or Blade series. The bronze paint changes from brown to burgundy depending on the light for an incredible look on the court.
The Pro Staff's DNA is evident in its small 97sq in headsize and 315g weight, making it a demanding, yet incredibly accurate and stable racquet at impact. The 31cm balance (in the handle) makes it easy to maneuver for dry hits and crisp volleys.
This frame is aimed at advanced players with solid technique to exploit this racquet. It will provide a high level of control and a unique feel.
Wilson brings a new technology for even more performance and precision: Paradigm Bending. This carbon fiber construction optimizes the flex between the racquet head and the handle for more flexibility without losing power.
The little eco-friendly plus: the grommets, eyelets and tips are made of Arkema's biosourced Agiplast, which is more environmentally friendly while maintaining high performance.
Extreme Tennis review of the Wilson Pro Staff 97 V14.0
In our tests, we liked the slight gain in flexibility without losing the unique feel of the Pro Staff. The feel and stability obtained with the Braid 45 are still there and the pleasure of hitting is immediate.
The weight/balance combination provides stability and swing speed, although a good arm will be needed to fully utilize this racquet. With its 97 headsize, tight 16x19 string pattern and great stability, this racquet offers an incredible feel. We were rewarded as we hit the ball harder and harder while maintaining control.
Of course, good placement and technique are necessary to ensure proper centering on this demanding frame.
If you want more forgiveness, Wilson offers the V14 in a 645 headsize: the Pro Staff X.
Who should consider the Wilson Pro Staff 97?
This frame is for the technically proficient striker who likes to dictate points and finish at the net. You will gain precision and touch.
Strengths :
- Control/accuracy
- Stability
- Feeling
Weaknesses :
- Power
- Poor effect pickup
Technologies :
- Paradigm Bending: Strategically designed carbon fiber construction to optimize the flex profile of the shaft and head of the racquet. More flex for an ideal blend of precision and classic Pro Staff feel without losing power.
- Braid 45: Frame construction with a 45-degree fiber layout for more feel in the game
- String Mapping: higher string density for better accuracy
- Ergonomics End Cap: Same buttcap as the other rackets in the range for more comfort. On the previous Pro Staff models, the buttcap was thinner. As a result, it felt like the racket needed to be tightened more. Therefore, this will no longer be the case with this new generation.
